Blues looking to beat Liverpool to the signing of Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi.
Chelsea are now in pole position to land the signing of £32 million rated Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, report the Daily Star, with the Blues hoping to beat Premier League rivals Liverpool to the capture of the exciting young Argentine, who has been of the best forwards in Serie A so far this season.
Inter manager Roberto Mancini has been busy in the transfer market so far this January, with Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri arriving at the San Siro on loan moves that have excited the fans, but with the failure to return to the Champions League having harmed the finances they could have to sell to fund Mancini’s reshaping of his squad.
Icardi is the club’s most prized asset having continued his ascent to the top after arriving from divisional rivals Sampdoria, and has clinical finishing and ghost-like movement have been two of the few things to have brightened the afternoons of Inter fans before the arrival of their January buys.
The report suggests that it is unlikely that Icardi will be moving on in January, whilst Inter have hopes of Champions League qualification through either Serie A or the Europa League, but that situation could be revisited in the summer.
