The Spanish giants are seemingly unsure about the long-term future of Ancelotti, whose side exited the Copa del Rey at the hands of local rivals Atletico Madrid this week after a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

The Italian tactician guided Real to glory in the Champions League last season and his side also look favourites to win La Liga this term after a superb recent run of form.

Still, the club are keeping Low in mind for the future after the German masterminded a superb World Cup victory for his country in Brazil in the summer, playing a stylish brand of attacking football on their way to claiming the trophy.

Ancelotti, meanwhile, has not yet renewed his contract at the Bernabeu and may not last beyond next season if Real continue their plan to pursue Low, who would presumably be in line to join the club after the 2016 European Championships.
