Arsenal transfer news
The 24-year-old is regarded as a big talent and could be the answer to the Gunners’ problems at the back this season, with Arsene Wenger struggling due to a lack of depth in that department after offloading Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in the summer.
Paulista could serve as a good option to rotate with the likes of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, having displayed his talents in the Spanish top flight since joining from his native Brazil in 2013.
Barcelona are also believed to be admirers of his, and the player has now spoken of his joy at being targeted by top clubs, stating a desire to play in the Premier League.
Although it remains to be seen if a move will happen this January, Paulista would seemingly be open to it, saying: “I will not lie to you. Before the end of the year, before the whole story of interest from Barcelona and Arsenal even happened, my manager was here and had a conversation with him.
“One of the things I said was my dream to play in England. I have this desire. Now this [the stories linking him to Arsenal], for me it was a great joy.”
