The Gunners started the 2014/15 season with only six first team defenders – with youngster Hector Bellerin having since been promoted from the Under-21s – and injuries have really shown up their lack of depth.

“If we have another injury or two we will struggle. It is risky (not to sign anyone) – too risky,” Wenger was quoted by Sky Sports.
