Mexican Keeper Guillermo Ochoa Will Not Be Joining Liverpool In January Transfer Window

Mexican World Cup star Memo Ochoa has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield since last summer.

The rumour gained additional traction as Simon Mignolet suffered poor form before Christmas.

However, Mignolet’s form has improved considerably, and Malaga’s Sporting Director now appears to have ruled out a move.

“[Memo] is going to stay in Malaga, there is only a little time left [in the transfer window] and I just don’t see us getting any kind of great offer nor do I see us contemplating it”, said Mario Armando Husillos.

He told ESPN that Ochoa has not complained about a lack of playing time and had been professional throughout. “He has never, not once, come to me with a problem. Not one day has he come and said, ‘Mario, this or that has happened to me”, he said.

Mexico manager Herrera has been critical of Malaga’s approach and has urged Ochoa to look for a new club, but it looks like Ochoa will be stuck in Spain until the summer at the earliest.
