The 24-year-old has been linked to Liverpool by the Metro in recent times, and the Premier League pair could end up scrapping over his signature.

Mauricio Pochettino may be at a disadvantage in the fight, as it is likely that chairman Daniel Levy will only allow the deal if they get in to the Champions League or sell enough players to fund it.

The Argentinian has only played five times for his country, meaning that there may be some trouble getting him a work permit to come to England.
