Slightly embarrassing, eh Louis?
Marco Reus reportedly ignored a phone call from Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal before signing his new contract with Borussia Dortmund.
Reus had long been expected to leave the Bundesliga side in the summer when a £20 million release clause came into effect meaning any one of Europe’s biggest clubs could snap him up for a paltry fee.
However, the German signed a new deal with BVB earlier this month and made the clause redundant.
But it has now been revealed that Reus ignored a last minute phone call from Louis van Gaal who was attempting to prevent him sign the extension and convince him to join Manchester United in the summer.
And according to German news source Bild the 25 year old simply ignored the phone call and refused to talk to the Dutchman.
The report says that Reus even refused to talk to any other club since it was revealed by Bayern Boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that he had a release clause despite his agent Dirk Hebel being inundated with a myriad of calls from Europe’s biggest clubs.
Reus’s new deal could see him stay in Dortmund until 2019 and will see him pocket around €9 million per year.
