Hull City transfer rumours
Sunderland conceded a free kick just outside the box on the right, and Tom Huddlestone, usually known for his impressively cultured delivery, fizzed in a fast, low ball which Dame N’Doye turned in.
Nikica Jelavic was rather harshly called offside when through on goal, but fortunately for Hull it made no difference. He made a mess of the opportunity.
Then the real talking point of the game – Steve Bruce and Gus Poyet almost come to blows after the Sunderland boss kicks over some water bottles. Poyet was subsequently sent to the stands.
N’Doye had the chance to double his and Hull’s tally with an hour gone, but could hardly have been less accurate.
It proved a costly miss, as Jack Rodwell – earlier booked for diving – headed in Patrick Van Aanholt’s cross.
There were suspicions of handball from Rodwell, but with no protests from Hull players, referee Mike Dean let the goal stand.
