City ready to swoop for La Liga hit-man.
Manchester City are hoping to rival Arsenal for the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic as a replacement for Edin Dzeko, according to Fichajes.net.
The Premier League champions look in need of improvements upfront after some unconvincing form from the likes of Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic this season, with both likely ot leave in the summer.
Mandzukic’s fine form in La Liga has also seen him linked with Arsenal, but City are ready to pay around £23m to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
The Croatian international could make a fine partner for star striker Sergio Aguero, while City are also rumoured to be keen on appoingting Atletico boss Diego Simeone as their next manager.
