The 20-year-old has been in sparkling form for Neil Redfearn’s side, which has caught the eye of both West Ham and Everton.

However, they are now being joined by Liverpool, whose scouts had been impressed with his recent return of four goals in six games.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has now ordered his scouts to keep a close watch on the England youth international until the end of the season as he ponders a summer swoop.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is currently banned for failing football director rules, and will be expected to demand somewhere in the region of £5m for Mowatt.
