The goalkeeper recently lamented the fact that he had once again been overlooked for the France national team. Following an injury suffered by Hugo Lloris in action for Tottenham Hotspur, coach Didier Deschamps turned to Benoit Costil as his replacement.

It was the Stade Rennais man who has joined Steve Mandanda and Stephane Ruffier on international duty this week, much to Jourdren’s displeasure.

“I think I’ve been undercut,” began the former France U21 international, speaking to L’Equipe,

“I have never doubted my capacities.”

The Paris-born stopper went on to discuss Montpellier’s indifferent Ligue 1 campaign.

The 2012 French champions currently sit seventh in the table, and have a game in hand over almost all of the teams around them in the league. However, they sit seven points off Saint-Etienne in fifth and having lost two of their last three, don’t look like breaking into the top five.

“Montpellier find themselves between fifth and tenth in the table,” Jourdren continued, “we’re just missing a bit of consistency, that’s what we needed at the beginning of the season to be in the top five.”
