Visitors Armenia took the lead inside the first five minutes as Borussia Dortmund man Henrikh Mkhitaryan played in Yura Movsisyan whose shot deflected into goal after connecting both with keeper Etrit Berisha and defender Mergim Mavraj.

Having opened the scoring, Armenia looked to protect their lead, rather than extend it. They bedded-in and invited pressure.

For much of the second half, their tactic appeared to be working, although it took the woodwork to twice deny Sokol Cikalleshi.

The visitors’ approach was undermined, however, by Hovhannes Hambartsumyan’s dismissal, after receiving his second yellow card with 20 minutes to play.

The man advantage sparked Albania into life and they secured the win thanks to a late double from Mavraj and Shkelzen Gashi.

Gashi’s winner was set-up by Lenjani, another substitute, who sent a fantastic cross to the far post. The left-sider has featured three times in Ligue 1 this season having moved to Rennes from St. Gallen in January.
