Universitario had asked the Bolivan authorities for Saturday’s domestic game against Bolivar to be rescheduled; they play Mineros de Guayana in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday night knowing that they stand on the brink of reaching the knock-out rounds for just the second time in their history.

The Bolivian FA rejected their request, and so the reigning champions opted to send just seven players, all of whom were youth team members. The game was suspended after ten minutes when one of them got injured. The score was 2-0 at the time.

It is not clear if they will face sanctions. They technically did not break any rules, and such clear affronts to the national associations are much more common than in Europe.
