The Manchester United squad took dressing room banter to a whole new level earlier this season, with recent reports revealing that they took to hanging a fake bird above Ashley Young’s locker in tribute to the fact that one pooed in his mouth.
Young was part of the United team playing against Swansea City back in August when he was hit by the untimely shot. He was attempting to shout instructions to his teammates when, with admittedly perfect aim, the bird struck.
In quotes taken by the Daily Mirror, United defender Luke Shaw recently revealed the extent of the jibes, as well as the fact that his teammate was far from happy about them… there was no mercy!
He said: “Ashley Young is the joker in the dressing room. We still laugh about the time he got bird poo in his mouth against Swansea. If you ask him now, he’ll say it wasn’t bird poo. In the changing room we hung a fake bird above his place as a joke which he didn’t like.”
The 29-year-old former England international has featured 24 times so far this season, and has enjoyed something of a career revival under Louis van Gaal – having previously fallen out of favour with former boss David Moyes.
