According to the paper, Arsenal are ready to start a three way tug of war for the in demand midfielder as his future looks more and more uncertain thanks to Jurgen Klopp’s departure this summer.

While Manchester United see the 24-year-old as a long term replacement for Michael Carrick who, at the age of 33, will logically be retiring in the next few years.

Manchester City though, believe they hold the trump card in the inevitable coming summer saga, with incoming Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel being keen to land Citizens striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian, who is valued by Manchester City at £18m, it is hoped by Tuchel, will be his first signing after moving into Signal Iduna Park, but his £120k wages could be a stumbling block – as they were in approaches made under Klopp.
