Argentine international linked with Old Trafford switch.
Man United boss Louis van Gaal will look to land long term target Ezequiel Garay according to the Metro.
The Zenit centre-back has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and the Dutch manager is set to sanction an £18.5m bid for the former Real Madrid man.
Man United have suffered three straight defeats and defensive weaknesses that had been common place in the first months of the season, appear to have returned, so one call well see why van Gaal would look to bring in a strong tackling defender.
The 28 year old left Benfica for the Russian Premier League last June but would surely be tempted by a move to Man United.
The likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans have struggled to retain a good level of consistent form and Garay would arguably offer van Gaal a far stronger option at the back.
The presence of Garay’s fellow countrymen Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo may well also provide extra motivation for such a switch.
