Liverpool are interested in signing former Manchester United star Carlos Tevez from Juventus, reports the Metro.
Although 31-years-old, the forward has shown that he can still cut it at the top level this season with his performances in the Bianconeri’s brilliant run to the final of the Champions League. In Europe’s premier club competition he has netted seven times in 12 matches, while domestically he is also impressive with 20 goals in 31 Serie A appearances.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers could be on the lookout for a new forward because his current crop have been struggling in the current campaign. Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini have been unable to regularly score, while Daniel Sturridge has been injured for much of the season.
This has resulted in the Merseyside club slipping away from the Champions League qualification places. They are six points and +14 goal difference away from fourth placed Manchester United with two games to go, and will surely already be planning for a season in the Europa League next time round. Tevez would be a great first foray in to the transfer market before mounting another challenge for the top four.
