The Belgian signed arrived at the Nou Camp for £15 million last August according to the BBC, becoming the latest player to go from the Emirates to Barca. Cesc Fabregas, Alexander Hleb, Alex Song, and Thierry Henry as well as a host of others have made the move, with varying degrees of success.

Having been ruled out with a hamstring tear that he picked up at the World Cup for the entirety of his Blaugranas career until this week, Vermaelen has a lot of work to do to be considered a success any time soon. However, he has been part of a very successful squad. They have already wrapped up La Liga with a game to spare, and are in both the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League final.

Could the 29-year-old be yet another bench warmer signed by the Catalan from Arsenal?
