Bernabeu wide-man linked with Stamford Bridge switch.
Chelsea’s chances of signing Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao have increased significantly after the Portuguese star denied he was set to move to Sporting Lisbon according to the Metro.
The left-sided defender has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, where he would presumably challenge Cesar Azpilicueta for a starting spot, with new signing Filipe Luis already being linked with a Blues exit.
Mourinho knows Coentrao well from their shared time at Real Madrid and it’s likely the 27 year old could be leaving the La Liga side after seeing Marcelo firmly embedded as the club’s first choice left-back.
Coentrao started just five La Liga fixtures this season and has proven something of a costly mistake following his £25m move from Benfica.
