Emirates Stadium side chase talented forward.
Arsenal are readying a £17.8m bid for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema according to the Daily Star.
The 27 year old French international has long been an Arsene Wenger target, dating back to Benzema’s time at Lyon, and new Bernabeu boss Rafa Benitez is apparently ready to consider offers for the Real Madrid star.
However a £17.8m bid isn’t likely to convince the Spanish giants to sell, Benzema has after all been in a very decent form over the past two seasons under former manager Carlo Ancelotti, and Wenger may need to double that offer to have any hope of securing his signature.
Ancelotti used Benzema as his undisputed first choice central-striking weapon, having seen Gonzalo Higuain leave for Napoli two years ago, and the experienced marksman has weighed in with 46 goals in two campaigns whilst also providing a large number of assists.
Benzema would arguably be a far more accomplished performer than Olivier Giroud and would be an ideal player to act as the spearhead of the Gunners’ attack.
