Aston Villa launch £15m bid for QPR forward Charlie Austin

Villa Park side close in on Loftus Road ace.

Aston Villa have made an offer of £15m for QPR forward Charlie Austin as they prepare for the exit of first-choice front-man Christian Benteke according to the Metro.

The 25-year-old Loftus Road star bagged 18 Premier League goals last season despite his side failing to retain their top-flight status.

Villa Park boss Tim Sherwood is resigned to losing Belgian international Benteke, with Liverpool having triggered the star striker’s release clause, and may well see Austin as an ideal replacement.

Sherwood has already lost one of his best performers, Fabian Delph opting to join Man City, and may well have to dig deep to bring in replacements and the £32.5m he should bank from Benteke’s sale will come in handy.
