Arsenal set sights on £67m pair who could propel Gunners to Premier League title triumph

Emirates Stadium side keen on top-class duo.

Arsenal have made just one high-profile signing this summer but with a week to go until the summer transfer window slams shut the north London side continue to track two top quality player who could propel them to a long awaited Premier League title.

The Independent claim that a £50m offer for 27-year-old Real Madrid star Karim Benzema would be enough to land the long-term target.

Benzema is an ideal addition that Arsene Wenger is known to be interested in signing, a player who can provide a prolific spearhead for the Arsenal attack.

The former Lyon man has scored 133 goals in six seasons in the Spanish capital and is far more deadly in front of goal than fellow countryman, and first choice Arsenal starter, Olivier Giroud.

Arsenal are on ‘red alert’ following suggestions that Joao Moutinho will look to hand in a transfer request if his AS Monaco side fail to secure a Champions League group stage spot according to the Metro.

The 29-year-old cultured midfielder moved to the Stade Louis II in a £17m deal two years ago, moving to the principality side with James Rodriguez, and would offer Wenger a fresh central midfield option.

The Portuguese international is a player capable of filling holding and defensive midfield roles but is also comfortable on the ball and an excellent distributor and very much a ‘Wenger-style’ signing.

AS Monaco lost the first leg of their Champions League qualifier to Valencia 3-1 and on Tuesday night the big-spending Ligue 1 side will look to overturn the deficit, if they fail then Wenger would be ready to pounce.
