Video: Karim Benzema scores sublime effort after mesmerising chemistry with BBC teammates

Karim Benzema was once again back making the right kind of headlines on Sunday when he opened the scoring for Real Madrid in their La Liga bout against Valencia.

The France forward has endured a tough few months, having been embroiled in the unsavoury sextape scandal involving his international teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

Against Gary Neville’s Valencia on Sunday, Benzema opened the scoring, demonstrating his superb finishing ability by spanking home after an excellently worked team move.

On an individual level, Benzema’s latest effort reminds spectators that his both a great scorer of goals and a scorer of great goals.

He’d managed eight in his last five before this one—including hat-tricks against Malmo and Rayo Vallecano—but he won’t have scored too many this season which could match his latest effort for class.

Benzema waltzed into space and played in Gareth Bale, who backheeled the ball into the path of Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 played a blind pass—flicking the ball into the path of Benzema—before the French hitman hammered an unstoppable effort past Jaume.

The interaction between the three world-class stars, their chemistry, intuition and mutual understanding was mesmerising and thoroughly unstoppable. It was surely equal to anything that Barcelona’s feted trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar could manage!
