Chelsea to revive interest in South American defender

Chelsea are plotting to revive their interest in Brazilian left-back Alex Telles during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Inter Milan from Galatasaray, but Chelsea are considering a move to bring the full-back to Stamford Bridge this month according to reports.

The Express noted that the Blues missed out on the 23-year-old during the summer, but that Guus Hiddink will pick up where Jose Mourinho left off and ‘reignite’ the club’s interest in the player.

While the Pensioners may have missed out on Telles during the summer, they did sign another left-back in Ghana international Abdul Rahman Baba, and as such, it’s hard to see how the club could accommodate these two as well as current first-choice Cesar Azpilicueta.

Telles is currently on loan from Galatasaray at Inter Milan, and according to the Metro, the Nerazzurri have a buyout clause of £6.25 million for the player, meaning that they could feasibly challenge any Chelsea attempt to prematurely end the defender’s loan spell.

The Caxias do Sul-born player represented Juventude and Gremio in his homeland before moving to Gala in 2014.
