Man United to launch imminent bid for Chelsea target Marquinhos ‘in the coming days’

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to shore up their interest in Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos by making a formal offer for his services in the coming days, according to the Daily Star.

Having turned United’s form around over the past two games, United chiefs are apparently prepared to back manager Louis van Gaal in the transfer market, and reports are suggesting that he will look to the 21-year-old to help shore up his back line.

The young Brazilian international has found it difficult to break ahead of PSG’s current pairing Thiago Silva and David Luiz this season, and though he is contracted to the French giants until 2019, he has recently spoke out about his frustration at life on the bench.

“Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up,” Marquinhos said.

“But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management.

“I will continue to work to get my place. But it’s true there comes a moment where I am older, you cannot always get used to the bench.

“There are six months to win titles. After, we’ll see what happens.”
