Manchester United favourites to beat Chelsea to £15m goal machine

Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United are understood to be set for a transfer battle for the signing of Oumar Niasse.

The Lokomotiv Moscow frontman recently won the Russian Premier League player of the year award for 2015 on the back of an exceptional campaign.

At the halfway point in the season, Niasse finds himself joint second in the division’s scoring charts, having bagged eight goals in 15 outings, two behind leading scorer Quincy Promes.

His efforts have taken Lokomotiv up to third in the Russian table, where they sit five points behind leaders CSKA Moscow.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Railroaders will still be able to call on their Senegal frontman when the season resumes.

According to The Guardian, the West African could be set for a £15 million move to the Premier League in January.

The paper name Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as the three major sides interested in the frontman, while Everton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all also keen on the hitman, and may yet look to challenge some of the division’s biggest sides.

The Guardian revealed that Niasse’s wife is based in Manchester, which would appear to make goal-shy United the favourites to secure his signature.
