You couldn’t make this up.

Hours after allegedly making a £24.5m bid for Alex Teixeira, the hamstring curse which has plagued Liverpool’s season has struck the Shakhtar Donetsk forward.

The 26-year-old apparently pulled his hamstring in Shakhtar’s training session yesterday in Florida, where Reds chief executive Ian Ayre is discussing a potential deal.

Dejan Lovren, Philippe Coutinho, Martin Skrtel, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Rossiter are all currently sidelined by the same infuriating muscle strain.

Predictably, social media could not get enough of the rumours. Opposition fans revelled in Liverpool’s misery, but it was mostly the Twitter Kop poking fun at themselves!
