Arsenal legend tells Wenger to sign Bayern Munich scoring machine

Having played for Arsene Wenger for the bulk of his professional career, former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour knows a thing or two about what it takes to win a title – and Parlour doesn’t think that Olivier Girioud has it. The retired Gunners star said there’s one man who Wenger should pour his resources into landing if he wants to win a title or compete in the Champions League: Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

This past week the Arsenal legend was asked who he’d like Wenger to pick up in the summer transfer window if he had his choice. According to the Metro, Parlour responded, “Robert Lewandowski, if they can get him.”

‘Someone of that calibre.

‘Ideally you want players that are 25 or 26 but sometimes you don’t get opportunities for that.

‘I just think they’re lacking a top quality striker.’

Parlour was somewhat critical of Olivier Giroud, doubting the French striker’s quality.

‘He’s done well, Olivier Giroud, but is he good enough for the Champions League and Premier League?,’ he said.

Lewandowski has 27 goals and two assists in 30 games for the Bundesliga giants this season, as well as eight goals and an assist in 10 Champions League appearances. He famously scored five goals in the span of nine minutes against VfL Wolfsburg earlier this season.

Giroud, meanwihle, has been in a bit of a slump at the Emirates, failing to score in eight straight games and has not scored a BPL goal in 13 straight appearances.
