Premier League trio should be on high alert as Paris Saint-Germain star demands exit

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has reportedly told the club that he wants to leave the French capital this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian international has been left disappointed with his lack of playing time this season as he continues to sit behind the likes of Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the PSG pecking order.

Marquinhos has made 40 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but his compatriots have featured on the pitch for double the amount of minutes as he has been forced to bide his time and show his versatility in other positions.

Having initially impressed in Europe with Roma, his move to Ligue 1 has brought collective success with domestic silverware, but on a personal level, it is arguably not what the 21-year-old would have hoped for.

Given his talent, it’s certainly a shame to see him denied the chance to further his career and take it to the next level in Paris, as he is undoubtedly capable of forming an integral part of a top European club’s defence.

While there is an argument to suggest that it would be difficult for any individual to displace Silva and Luiz, perhaps the time is right for Marquinhos to consider his options.

Chelsea will be scouring the transfer market this summer given the impending release of John Terry, while Arsenal continue to be criticised for not strengthening their defensive options with a world-class centre-half.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could also be in the equation if the Brazilian ace is looking to move on, as competition for places along with the likes of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind will be crucial for them next season.
