Chelsea given option to sign winter flop on permanent deal

If Chelsea have any interest in giving winter loan signing Alexandre Pato another chance, they can very well sign the Brazilian striker to a permanent deal.

According to ESPN, Pato’s agent Gilmar Veloz has revealed that Chelsea have a contract option to bring back Pato on a four-year deal if they choose to exercise it. He added that if Chelsea decided to not exercise it, the decision on his future will be made by Corinthians.

“He has a document there ready for a four-year contract if Chelsea wished to exercise it,” Veloz explained.

“I do not know if they are going to, I am not Roman Abramovich.

“If they decide not to buy him, it will be up to Corinthians to decide what to do. Pato is on holiday waiting on his future.”

Pato joined Chelsea on a loan deal from Corinthians this past winter, but made just two appearances for the club in almost half a year at Stamford Bridge. He scored in his debut appearance against Aston Villa then made just one more appearance before spending the rest of the season on the bench or off the gameday lineup.

The 26-year-old Brazilian earned distinction in 2009 when he won the prestigious Golden Boy Award for his stellar season with AC Milan and the Brazilian national team.
