Ligue 1 giants confirm signing of Arsenal full-back target

Arsenal are in the market for more defenders this summer, but they may have missed out on a solid target as Monaco have beaten the team to a top defender prospect.

According to the Monaco official website, the French giants have signed officially signed Djibril Sidibe from Lille. Per the Metro, it is a five-year deal for the versatile defender.

Per the Metro, Arsene Wenger had been interested in making a last-ditch effort to beat Monaco to the signing of his fellow Frenchman Sidibe.

From 2012 to 2016, Sidibe made 96 appearances and scored seven goals for the Ligue 1 outfit, and earned an early look from Didier Deschamps for Euro 2016 before the French national team manager ultimately left him off the roster.

Arsenal are seeking more reinforcements for a defense which struggled in key games last season – particularly against their London rivals, who left Arsenal with just seven of 24 points from matches against Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
