Manchester City to complete £45m signing this week as Pep Guardiola set to surpass £100m spending mark

Manchester City target Leroy Sane has reportedly told Schalke that he wants to leave for England and will wrap up a move to the Etihad this week.

Having already signed the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito this summer, Pep Guardiola will feel as though he still has key positions to address ahead of his first Premier League campaign in charge of the club.

According to Bild, he is set to move closer to sorting out one of those issues, with Sane closing in on a £45m move that will edge City closer to the £100m mark with more new arrivals likely to follow.

As noted by the German media outlet, Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel said: Leroy told me on Wednesday in an interview again he has requested to change clubs.”

Should the German international complete his move to Manchester, he will add further competition alongside the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Jesus Navas and Samir Nasri, although it remains to be seen whether or not Guardiola moves to whittle that group down in the coming weeks.

Sane made 42 appearances in all competitions last season, with the 20-year-old scoring nine goals and producing seven assists to further cement his place as one of the top upcoming talents in Germany.

Further, as noted by The Sun, once City have secured the signing of Sane, they will switch their focus to Everton defender John Stones, who is said to be the subject of a £40m ultimatum offer from the Premier League giants.

The Toffees are understood to be holding out for £50m, and so it’s unclear as to whether or not the two clubs will be able to reach a compromise with Guardiola undoubtedly ramping up his summer transfer market activity with just over a month to go before the deadline.
