Chelsea defender Gary Cahill congratulated his England national team-mate Wayne Rooney on breaking the all-time record to become the most capped outfield player for the country via Instagram.
Cahill also took time out to praise his teammates for the 1-0 victory over Slovakia on Sunday evening at the City Arena Trnava stadium and the hero on the night Adam Lallana, who scored his first ever goal for England.
Rooney won his 116th cap for England in the win over Slovakia, putting him ahead of former United star David Beckham who held the previous record.
Only goalkeeper Peter Shilton, with 125 caps, now stands ahead of the United man.
