Barcelona are desperately trying to tie Spain international Sergi Roberto to a new contract, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish language transfer news site reports that the Catalan super club are reacting to strong interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG in the player, who is still on a small contract having only broken into the side last year.

Roberto came through the famous “La Masia” academy as a central midfielder, but has played as Barca’s right back for almost a year with with enormous success. Chelsea should be desperate to replace the dreadful Branislav Ivanovic at full back, while the link to Manchester City makes sense as Pep Guardiola is likely to be keen to bring in players who he knows will be able to slot into his unique system quickly.

Roberto was one of the stories of last season in Spain, emerging from Dani Alves’ shadow as one of Barca’s star players, using his athleticism to create width down the right just like his Brazilian predecessor.
