Man United boss Jose Mourinho was right to drop him, say Wayne Rooney

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has admitted that Jose Mourinho was right to drop him, according to the Three Lions.

The 30-year-old forward has managed to score just one goal in ten appearances for the Red Devils this season. Mourinho finally lost patience with the former Everton man last week when he dropped Rooney for United’s clashes with Zorya and Stoke City.

However, in a searingly honest interview with the Three Lions, Rooney stated that Mourinho was right to drop him and that if he was the manager himself, he would have dropped himself.

The experienced England international also admitted that he no longer has the pace he once had and that his performance against Watford was poor.

“I knew the Watford game, I didn’t play well. I didn’t deserve to play the next game, I understood that. And the team have done well, so I have to bide my time and take my chance,” Rooney was quoted as saying by the Three Lions.

Manchester United currently find themselves in sixth place with 13 points after seven games. The Red Devils host bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture on October 17.
