Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his toughest defensive opponent over the years was former Arsenal and Chelsea left back Ashley Cole.
In an interview with “Coach Magazine” quoted on Goal, the Real Madrid star also revealed that while he and Lionel Messi weren’t best friends, they also weren’t the bitter rivals many people assumed they were.
Ronaldo faced up against Ashley Cole many times in the Premier League, with the winger often coming up against his opposite number in crunch Chelsea – United games as the two competed for titles before his Portuguese’s move to Real Madrid.
Unfortunately the Champions League never drew Chelsea against Real Madrid while the two were at those clubs, meaning that the two ended their clashes when Ronaldo headed to Madrid for a record fee in 2009.
The former Sporting winger is enduring a tough run at Madrid, having not scored in four games despite a plethora of chances.
