Jose Mourinho has found Manchester United midfield solution insists BBC pundit after trio impress

Ian Wright believes that Jose Mourinho has finally found the right balance in the Manchester United midfield to be effective after impressing against Arsenal.

United dominated for the most part against the Gunners with Juan Mata giving them a second-half lead, only to see Olivier Giroud net a late equaliser.

In turn, they missed an opportunity to close the gap on the top four and league leaders Liverpool and that will undoubtedly be a major disappointment for Mourinho.

However, it shouldn’t be all doom and gloom for the Red Devils after Saturday insists Wright, who believes that after weeks of tinkering with his midfield, Mourinho has now found the right combination to dominate games and put themselves in a strong position to win games consistently.

“United have found something with these three,” he said on Match of the Day. “Pogba can now get in a more advanced area, and when he gets on the ball like this, the ability he has got, the strength, and the technique, he can produce.”

Ander Herrera was singled out for praise in particular with the Spaniard producing an excellent performance, while Wright was keen to also highlight the importance of Michael Carrick as the veteran anchored the midfield well.

The United midfield has been a real problem to start the season with Mourinho chopping and changing consistently which in turn has contributed to their indifferent form.

However, although time will tell as to whether or not Wright’s declaration has substance, the early signs are certainly promising based on what we saw on Saturday.
