The January window is just over a month away from opening and so Arsenal transfer news is naturally all around this morning.
Jan Oblak
According to GOAL.com, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on 23-year-old Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who has a €100m (£85.23m) release clause in his current contract.
Petr Cech is not mentioned at all in the GOAL report, but presumably Oblak is seen as an ideal candidate to replace the Czech, 34, when he eventually vacates his no.1 jersey at the Emirates.
Cech, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea last year, has two and a half years left to run on his current contract with the Gunners.
Oblak is contracted to Atletico until June 2021, which puts the Spanish club in a strong position should they receive any offers for their star Slovenian.
However, GOAL claim that Arsenal would be unwilling to stump up €100m, which is more than twice what they paid Real Madrid for record signing Mesut Ozil in 2013.
Mesut Ozil
Ozil is subject to his own transfer speculation today as well, with Marca reporting that he wants to leave Arsenal to rejoin Real.
Marca claim that Ozil regrets leaving the Bernabeu and has offered his services to Los Blancos on more than one occasion since signing for Arsenal.
Ozil has just over 18 months remaining on his contract at Arsenal, who have only won two FA Cups and one Community Shield while the 28-year-old German has been at the club.
In three seasons in Madrid, Ozil won the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana, but Real have lifted the Champions League twice since he left, while Arsenal have not reached a quarter-final in the last six years.
Ralph Hasenhuttl
According to an exclusive report in The Sun, Arsenal are preparing for life without Wenger as manager.
The Sun claim that Gunners bigwigs have compiled a list of possible Wenger replacements. And that list is said to include 49-year-old Austrian Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Hasenhuttl is currently in charge of RB Leipzig, who lead the Bundesliga after being promoted last season.
Wenger’s current deal expires at the end of the season and Arsenal’s preferred option would be for the Frenchman, 67, to extend his stay, add The Sun.
Mathieu Debuchy
Forgotten full-back Mathieu Debuchy is one of two Arsenal players reportedly attracting attention from France’s Ligue 1.
Claims made by France Football (re-reported by Metro) state that Marseille want to sign Debuchy in January, along with his former Gunners teammate Mathieu Flamini, who is currently struggling to get a game for Crystal Palace.
Flamini has featured just twice for Palace this season, while Debuchy has played 16 minutes of Arsenal’s campaign.
Ismael Bennacer
Another Gunner likely to be on his way to France in the New Year in 18-year-old midfielder Ismael Bennacer.
Algerian newspaper Le Buteur writes that the teenager, who made his Arsenal debut in the League Cup last season, is being eyed by Le Havre, Lorient and Guingamp as a potential loan signing.
French-born Bennacer committed his international future to Algeria earlier this year and made his senior debut for the country in a 6-0 win over Lesotho in July.
