Manchester United may have been handed a significant transfer boost as one of their rumoured targets threatens to quit his current club at the end of the season.

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio is said to have made it clear he’s not happy with his current situation with the club during a face-to-face meeting with club president Florentino Perez, according to Diario Gol.

The Spain international looked one of the most exciting breakthrough talents in Europe last season, having shone when given the opportunity to do so by manager Zinedine Zidane.

However, Asensio has not managed to maintain a place in Real’s starting XI this term, and Diario Gol claim he’s not happy to be overlooked when the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema fail to perform.

Diario Gol also recently claimed United manager Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign Asensio, and that he could even offer Marcus Rashford to Real as part of a swap deal in order to do so.

While it remains to be seen if the Portuguese should take such a risk with a popular up-and-coming young star of his own, it’s clear that Asensio’s situation is one worth looking at for the Red Devils.

The 21-year-old looks a serious talent and one who could do well in the Premier League if given a platform on which to shine.

It remains to be seen if he can regain Zidane’s trust this term, but Diario Gol now seem convinced he’s ready to quit the club if his demands for first-team football are not met.
