Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window after major developments this week.
According to Marca, Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa passed a medical test with Los Blancos on Thursday, meaning the club are now confident they are only days away from finalising the deal.
The report also claims he is likely to join for his £17.8million buy-out clause, as Bilbao have been unwilling to negotiate with Madrid.
This looks a fine signing for Real Madrid, who could do with an upgrade on the unconvincing Keylor Navas as first choice in goal for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Kepa has shone in La Liga and looks ready to step in as the club’s new number one, even if not necessarily straight away.

Real’s precise plans for him remain unclear, but Marca suggest a deal is now close and that can only be good news for the Spanish giants as they should then solve what has been something of a problem position.
For all Navas’ qualities, he hasn’t looked the big name required to fill the gloves of the legendary Iker Casillas, who left the Bernabeu a few years ago.
Casillas was always going to be a tough act to follow, but Kepa has the potential to be a big player for Madrid.
