Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly surprised at Barcelona’s imminent transfer swoop for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
According to Don Balon, the Portugal international does not believe Coutinho is a level above team-mates Isco or Luka Modric, and is also puzzled at Barca spending so much on a player who is cup-tied in the Champions League.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have a long-standing rivalry so it’s little surprise to see Ronaldo take some interest in the Catalans’ transfer activities.
The Times claim Coutinho himself feels a move is close to completion, with Barcelona offering £142million for the Brazil international.

This will go down as one of the biggest transfers of the season, let alone January, but it seems Ronaldo isn’t all that impressed by Barcelona’s work in the transfer market.
Only time will tell to see if the deal is worth it, with Barca looking fairly comfortable in La Liga as it is, and with Coutinho unable to aid them in their bid for European glory.
