Jose Mourinho will make SHOCK £35m bid to sign Germany star IN JANUARY

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to make a surprise £35m bid for a big-name player in the January transfer window…

Iit would seem to make most sense to wait until the end of the season to launch an assault to prise Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford, given that his contract will expire in the summer.

However, according to The Mirror, it’s claimed that the Red Devils will make their move this month, with a £35m bid possibly enough to convince Arsenal to sell and avoid losing Ozil for nothing in just six months time.

The German international has been in fine form in recent weeks, taking his tallies to four goals and five assists in 18 Premier League games, reiterating his importance to Arsenal who will be left devastated if he chooses to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

As the wait continues for a contract update, it seems more likely that he’ll be moving on the longer it drags out, but Mourinho is said to want to avoid a transfer scrap over his signature, hence the early January bid to wrap up a deal now.

It remains to be seen if £35m is enough to persuade the Gunners to do business, but with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata struggling to make a decisive impact this season, perhaps Ozil could be the ideal addition to solve that creativity issue in the final third.

Would Ozil be a good signing for Man Utd? Should they wait and try to convince him in the summer or go ahead with a £35m bid in January?
