Manchester City have reportedly made a £20million bid for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez after opening transfer talks with the Gunners, according to the Guardian.
The report states that Sanchez is still likely to play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup this evening, despite the growing feeling that he could be closing in on a January exit.
The Independent recently claimed Arsenal were increasingly open to letting the Chile international leave, and that he could even be a City player in time for their game against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Guardian’s report suggests City have made their offer, and despite it being a relatively low one, there is no talk as of yet that Arsenal have turned it down.
They go on to say that Arsenal are looking at potential replacements such as Monaco star Thomas Lemar, so it may be that they’re prepared to accept £20m if it means avoiding losing their star player on a free in the summer.

Sanchez is nearing the end of his contract and seems set on a move to the Etihad Stadium whether it’s now or next season, with the Guardian maintaining that they remain the favourites for his signature ahead of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
The 29-year-old could make an excellent addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, particularly due to his contract status meaning he’d join for well below market value, and also given his eligibility to play in the Champions League in the second half of the season.
