Man Utd didn’t have the best of games away at Tottenham on Wednesday night, falling to a 2-0 defeat at Wembley as Alexis Sanchez made his Premier League debut for the club.
The Chilean international got off to a winning start with the Red Devils in their 4-0 win at Yeovil Town in the FA Cup last week, but they weren’t able to follow that up in the league.
In fact, they were behind after just 11 seconds against Tottenham, and a Phil Jones own goal ultimately sealed their fate as they fell to a disappointing loss.
That wasn’t quite how Sanchez would have ideally liked to have seen his league debut go with United, and unsurprisingly Arsenal fans, the media and others were quick to stick the boot in as he struggled to make a decisive impact.
Piers Morgan was amongst those leading the trolling, although given the Gunners slipped to a poor loss of their own on Tuesday night at Swansea City, they haven’t had much to cheer about this week either.
BBC Sport note how Sanchez moved to Old Trafford as part of the swap deal that took Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal, while the Gunners added Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day, as per the club’s official site.
It remains to be seen who has the last laugh as ultimately United remain in second place in the Premier League table, with Arsenal 11 points adrift and sitting in sixth place.
For the time being though, the media and supporters alike were quick to jump on Sanchez and United’s failings against Tottenham, as seen below…
