Croatia enjoyed a memorable summer as they made it to the 2018 World Cup final against all the odds as they fell just short against France on Sunday.
Although they’ll be disappointed to have gotten so close to the ultimate glory, given the magnitude of their achievement of even getting to Moscow at the weekend, it will have made the current squad heroes back home.
That was evidenced by the turn out as they returned to Croatia on Monday, and it appears as though midfield maestro and Real Madrid star Luka Modric was certainly enjoying himself.
After lighting a flare while on the open-top bus, he went on to lead the chants and lap up the reception from the supporters who were delighted to see the players return after such a successful tournament.
It will perhaps give real belief and confidence to Zlatko Dalic’s side ahead of Euro 2020 as this group of players will still have a major tournament in them. Based on the response they got this time round, it will surely inspire them to build on the World Cup and continue to enjoy success on the international stage.
