Manchester United ready to step up transfer plans by beating Chelsea & Real Madrid to £100million star

Manchester United are reportedly looking for a strong end to the summer transfer window after being relatively quiet so far, and that involves moving for Robert Lewandowski.

According to the Independent, the Bayern Munich star has emerged as one of Jose Mourinho’s preferred targets up front, though Chelsea and Real Madrid are also mentioned as possibly being in the running.

This goes in line with a report from the Daily Star linking Lewandowski with a £100million move to the Bernabeu as part of their plans to strengthen in attack alongside signing Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

It’s clear the Polish goal machine could be a great signing for any top club, and United perhaps need more in attack next season after being overly reliant on Romelu Lukaku.

Despite just shining at the World Cup with Belgium, the former Everton man only managed 25 goals for United last season, which is decent, but perhaps not enough to justify continued starts in the side.

Lewandowski has been extremely prolific in his career in Germany, scoring 254 goals across spells with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and one imagines he’d have little trouble shining in English football.

Robert Lewandowski is a transfer target for Manchester United and Chelsea

The Independent suggests United plan to be active by pursuing other big names as well in the coming weeks, but Lewandowski would be one of the most exciting purchases.

This would be a big blow for the likes of Chelsea and Madrid, who for differing reasons both need to strengthen in attack this summer.

Real have just lost Cristiano Ronaldo, and as noted by the Star, their plan seems to be to replace him with a combination of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Lewandowski.

Tuttosport link Chelsea with signing Gonzalo Higuain, who could be a very decent alternative to Lewandowski, though he’s older and perhaps more prone to appearing to bottle it in big games.
