Sergio Ramos learns Real Madrid are confident of sealing €60m transfer to replace big name

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has reportedly learned that his club are looking to sign Timo Werner and are confident of securing the transfer for around €60million.

The RB Leipzig striker seems ideal as Real chase an upgrade on Karim Benzema as part of their plan to revamp their attack after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

Don Balon claim Ramos has heard about this plan, though Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the promising young Germany international, rated at around €60m.

One imagines this summer could still go a variety of ways for Madrid, with another Don Balon report also linking them with Werner, but also with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi as options up front, whilst Eden Hazard would also be targeted from Chelsea to add quality out wide.

Either way, it will certainly be surreal seeing Real without Ronaldo at the Bernabeu next season, while the players will also have to get used to life under a new manager as Julen Lopetegui has come in to replace the immensely successful Zinedine Zidane.

Werner has impressed in the Bundesliga with 42 goals in the last two seasons in all competitions, though one imagines almost any player would struggle to arrive at Real in its current state.
