Manchester United expected to beat Chelsea to unsettled Arsenal star in SHOCK transfer raid

Manchester United could be looking to dip into the transfer market once more and make an unexpected move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in 2008 and since gone on to make 234 appearances for the Gunners, contributing 36 goals. He has won 3 FA Cup’s during that time but was largely associated as part of Arsene Wenger’s underachieving side over his last decade as the club boss.

The Welshman’s talent has never been in doubt, his technical ability and superb passing range is up there with the very best, however, he has been unable to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

That being said, according to the Daily Star, new Gunners boss Unai Emery has already said that he sees Ramsey as central to his plans for the new season, even though the playmaker has yet to put pen to paper on a contract extension with the club.

The Daily Star states that football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes this could open the door for Manchester United to sign Ramsey, suggesting he could fit into Jose Mourinho’s system at Old Trafford perfectly.

“I think he could fetch £30m,” said Maguire.

“Mourinho was prepared to pay around £45m for Sanchez in the last year of his contract.

“Its fair to say Ramsey isn’t in that same category but he is in the prime of his career and he’s good for scoring goals from midfield.

“Especially with United preferring to play one up front, that’s absolutely essential.”

Maguire adds that Chelsea could be realistic contenders for Ramsey as well, and the Blues have recently been linked with the former Cardiff City man.

United have already signed Brazilian box-to-box midfielder Fred in the window, but Ramsey would offer a completely different dimension in terms of creativity.

Should Mourinho decide to move for the Welsh star it would be the second time this year Arsenal have sold a key player to their fierce rivals, after Alexis Sanchez swapped North London for Manchester back in January.
