Chelsea defeated Lyon at Stamford Bridge in their final pre-season matchup, thanks to some penalty heroics by Rob Green.

Chelsea won the shootout 5-4, with Jorginho, Ross Barkley, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta all scoring their penalties. Rob Green then turned into an unlikely hero by saving Pape Cheikh Diop’s penalty before Eden Hazard calmly struck home the winner.

The Belgian international scored the winning penalty in his first game for Chelsea since returning from an extended break following the World Cup.

Following the game, Maurizio Sarri offered some updates on Chelsea’s transfer situations as Thursday’s transfer deadline looms closer. The new man in charge answered questions about Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and also rumoured signing Kepa Arrizabalga.

Arrizabalga was linked with a switch to the Blues earlier today by The Independent.
