Arsenal are reportedly close to securing an agreement to tie key player Aaron Ramsey down to a new contract amid transfer interest from Chelsea.
The Daily Express recently linked the Blues with a possible late bid for the Wales international, but it now looks as though he could be leaning towards staying at the Emirates Stadium.
Ramsey has been at Arsenal since all the way back in 2008 and looks an important figure to keep around as they enter into a new era under Unai Emery, who joined this summer to replace Arsene Wenger after 22 years in charge of the club.
According to the Telegraph, Ramsey does now look close to agreeing a new deal with the Gunners, in what will be seen as an important breakthrough after lengthy speculation over his future as his current contract has been allowed to run down to its final year.
The north Londoners posted this photo on their Instagram today, which some fans seem to think alludes to a deal being close…
A number of supporters have commented on this picture asking if it means he’s signed a new contract, or urging the club to officially announce it.
It could be that it’s a little hint that something is on its way to being concluded, and that they’re preparing photos for when they can confirm everything.
If Chelsea do miss out on Ramsey, it could be a blow in their bid to strengthen what has looked an area of weakness for them in recent times.
However, this may be what’s seen them close in on a loan deal for Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic instead, as reported earlier today by the Evening Standard.
Although Kovacic lacks the Premier League experience of Ramsey, as well as being less of a goal threat, he could still add something to this CFC squad and at least provide Maurizio Sarri with more depth in that area.
